Anthropic announced Claude for Small Business on May 13, 2026, a package of connectors and ready-to-run agentic workflows that places Claude inside the software small businesses already use, including Intuit QuickBooks, PayPal, HubSpot, Canva, Docusign, Google Workspace, and Microsoft 365. The product ships inside Claude Cowork, comes with 15 workflows and 15 reusable skills across finance, operations, sales, marketing, HR, and customer service, and is paired with a free AI Fluency for Small Business course built with PayPal. Anthropic is also kicking off a free half-day Claude SMB Tour starting May 14 in Chicago and funding partnerships with Workday, LISC, and three community development financial institutions.

What is Claude for Small Business?

Claude for Small Business is a toggle install inside Claude Cowork that connects to a small business’s existing software stack. Once the integrations are on, an owner picks a job, Claude does the work, and the owner approves the plan before anything sends, posts, or pays.

Anthropic framed the launch against a specific gap. Small businesses account for 44 percent of U.S. GDP and employ nearly half the private-sector workforce, but their adoption of AI has lagged behind larger enterprises. According to the company, the problem is that tools and training are rarely tailored to how small businesses actually operate, and as a result their use often stops at the chat window.

“Small businesses make up nearly half the American economy, but they’ve never had the resources of bigger companies,” said Daniela Amodei, Co-founder and President of Anthropic. “AI is the first technology that can finally close that gap, which is why we’re launching Claude for Small Business, alongside training and partnerships to make sure AI shows up for the entrepreneurs and communities who need it most. Claude for Small Business runs inside the tools owners already rely on, like QuickBooks, PayPal, and HubSpot, and takes on the work that piles up after hours, like planning payroll, chasing invoices, or kicking off a marketing project. People run the business, and Claude helps take the late-night work off their plates.”

Which tools does Claude for Small Business connect to?

The product runs through Claude Cowork and assigns each connected tool a specific job:

  • PayPal powers settlements, invoicing, disputes, and refunds inside Claude.
  • Intuit QuickBooks handles payroll planning, the monthly close, cash flow, tax-season preparation, and reconciliation work that touches every other system.
  • HubSpot runs lead triage, customer pulse, and campaign attribution.
  • Canva generates content for every channel, with the ability to collaborate and edit with a team, publish assets, and track performance.
  • Docusign sends contracts out for signature, tracks status, and files the executed copy back where it belongs.

The full list of skills, automations, and connectors is published on Anthropic’s solutions page.

What workflows and skills ship out of the box?

Claude for Small Business includes 15 ready-to-run agentic workflows and 15 reusable skills covering the repeatable tasks owners told Anthropic slow them down most. Highlighted skills include:

  • Planning payroll with confidence. Settle the QuickBooks cash position against incoming PayPal settlements, build a 30-day forecast, rank what is overdue, and queue reminders for the owner to approve and send.
  • Closing the month with fewer errors. Reconcile the books against settlements, flag what does not match, write a plain-English profit and loss statement, and export a close packet that can be forwarded to an accountant through Intuit QuickBooks.
  • Getting a pulse on the business. Surface the most important business insights on a schedule on one page, including cash position through Intuit QuickBooks, sales trend, pipeline movement, and the week’s commitments.
  • Running the next campaign. Find the slow stretch in revenue, analyze HubSpot campaign performance, draft the promo strategy, and generate assets in Canva to prepare the next send.

Additional skills cover invoice chasing, margin analysis, month-end preparation, tax-season organization, contract reviewing, lead triaging, and content strategy.

What are early customers saying?

Three small business leaders quoted in the announcement described the impact on their day-to-day work.

“Not only could it problem-solve for me, it also showed me problems I didn’t know I had,” said Brian Ludviksen, COO of Purity Coffee.

“What we used to think were the constraints are just not constraints anymore. It’s empowering. Hours of looking at stuff that doesn’t matter are gone. I want an entire organization where everybody is using these tools daily,” said Mike Beckham, CEO of Simple Modern.

“It’s freeing up things that used to be a lot of very tedious clerical work for more value-add tasks,” said Ryan Olson, Technology and Innovation Manager at MidCentral Energy.

How is trust handled?

Anthropic pointed to a survey it ran with small business owners in which half named data security as their single biggest hesitation about AI. The company’s response in Claude for Small Business rests on three commitments:

  • The owner stays in the loop. Every task and workflow is initiated by the user, and the owner either approves the plan first or lets it run end-to-end once ready.
  • Existing permissions hold. If an employee cannot see something in QuickBooks or Drive today, they cannot see it through Claude.
  • Anthropic does not train on customer data by default on its Team and Enterprise plans, with full details available in the Trust Center.

What partner integrations are included?

Executives at three launch partners framed the collaboration in their own words.

“Small and mid-market businesses fuel our economies, and for decades, QuickBooks has been proud to be their trusted financial partner. By integrating the agentic AI capabilities of our QuickBooks platform into Claude for Small Business, we’re providing small businesses with AI-powered automations and experiences that allow them to remove the complexities of managing their finances, accelerate payroll workflows, and generate data-backed insights that help them grow and scale with speed and confidence,” said Joe Preston, VP of Product Management at Intuit QuickBooks.

“At HubSpot, our mission is to help scaling companies grow with AI. We partnered with Anthropic to build the first CRM connector for Claude so go-to-market teams can access their HubSpot context wherever they work. For small businesses, that means getting tailored answers, summaries, and visualizations directly from their customer platform so they can segment smarter, run better campaigns, and drive more leads,” said Angela DeFranco, GM and VP Product, Marketing Hub at HubSpot.

“Small businesses need AI that moves at the speed they do. With Canva powering content creation in Claude for Small Business, a business owner can go from idea to published, on-brand design in one flow, while AI streamlines the work in between. It’s part of our vision to make complex AI workflows simple, so we can help people achieve their goals through design,” said Anwar Haneef, GM and Head of Ecosystem at Canva.

What is the AI Fluency for Small Business course?

Anthropic and PayPal co-built AI Fluency for Small Business, a free online course on using AI to run a small business. The course is taught by owners who have already built AI into their own operations, including Prospect Butcher Co. in Brooklyn and MAKS TIPM Rebuilders in California, and covers step-by-step guidance on which tasks are right for AI and how to get started safely, responsibly, and ethically.

“PayPal is proud to partner with Anthropic to help small and medium-sized businesses harness the full potential of the AI-led economy. Together, we are equipping these business owners and entrepreneurs with the tools, expertise, and trusted infrastructure they need to compete and thrive in a rapidly evolving digital economy and creating new opportunities for them to innovate, grow and better serve their customers,” said Amy Bonitatibus, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer at PayPal.

The course is available on demand starting the day of the announcement.

What is the Claude SMB Tour?

Starting May 14 in Chicago, Anthropic and partner Tenex.co are taking Claude for Small Business on the road. The tour is a free, half-day live AI fluency training and hands-on workshop for 100 local small business leaders per stop, and attendees receive a one-month Claude Max subscription. Spring stops include Chicago, Tulsa, Dallas, Hamilton Township, Baton Rouge, Birmingham, Salt Lake City, Baltimore, San Jose, and Indianapolis, with more cities added in the fall. Anthropic thanked the Greater Cleveland Partnership and the National Talent Collaborative for piloting the concept in March.

Which nonprofits and CDFIs is Anthropic partnering with?

As a public benefit corporation, Anthropic is funding partnerships that put Claude directly in the hands of small business owners and the organizations that support them. With Workday and the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), the company is supporting the Workday Foundation Solopreneurship Accelerator Program, which will equip an initial 2026 cohort of 15 aspiring solopreneurs with seed funding from the Workday Foundation, Claude credits from Anthropic, and an AI-first entrepreneurship curriculum developed by LISC.

Anthropic is also partnering with three Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs) that are deploying AI in their own operations and services: Accion Opportunity Fund, Community Reinvestment Fund USA, and Pacific Community Ventures. Pacific Community Ventures, for example, is using Claude to power its Radiant Data Hub, a shared resource for a network of CDFIs, to collect and synthesize voice-based feedback from its small business clients and their workers.
